Content is King

Hi, it’s Mike here from M Business and Tradie Directory Australia. Today. I want to talk to you about content Is KING. Good old Bill  Gates said this. I think it was back in when was it? Back in 96, he said, “Content is King.”

 

What he was talking about was the future of the internet, the future of what was happening and pretty much what he was talking about and what a lot of people talk about when they say Content is King. They’re talking about good quality content, which helps with your ranking and helps with your engagement. It helps in all those sort of areas.

 

So that’s what I want to talk to you about today. It’s about your content.  Again, we covered it on Tuesday. It’s a little bit about content marketing. Today, I want to talk to you a bit more. But really, the first thing that good content does, especially on your website, is it helps you rank on Google.

 

If you can be an expert in your field and you’re giving good content on your website, then you’re getting good. You know, you might be writing blogs or you might be putting different things up. Google will rank you. Google will give you a better tick because you’ve got good content. And you know, each page needs to be full with information. The more information that Google can read then the better off you are.

 

So content is King, but with Google, it’s consistently putting content in.  The second thing when it comes to content is King, especially for Google, is that they want you to post on social media, not only anything but things that are relevant to the same industry that you’re in. These are things that go back to your website and content that is from experts of bigger companies as your self that you can reference yourself with.  Google will give you a bit of a tick with that.

 

So what’s crazy is that if you’re putting a blog up on your website and then you’re posting it across onto Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, you know, Google My Business is wonderful. Now Google my business allows you to post even video.

 

If you’re putting it onto LinkedIn, if you’re putting it onto Pinterest, any of those sorts of things, Google’s going to give it a tick. This is fantastic. So content is King, but you know what else? Content is also King on directories. So if say, for instance, I’m not talking about spending thousands of dollars on directories. I’m talking about putting your information on Yelp. Putting your information on certain directories that really can help with your content. I’ve got a great little trick. I did it for a digital agency for us. There was a certain critique and a certain area that I really wanted to get onto that first page. And so what I did was I found all the directories that were ranking on that page. I went to those directories and I submitted my details in there. And guess what? Content then allowed me because I was ranking with those people. They gave me a tick. I went under the first page of that. So that’s one thing.

 

The next thing is the reason why you give good content, especially on your website, especially on social media, especially on email marketing, as something else that we talked about the other day, even on live videos like this, is because it builds rapport with people that you may not be or have sold to. And why do you build rapport? You build rapport because building rapport builds trust. Now I sold a website, it was a little while ago and I didn’t even know the lady.

 

She rang me up and she said, “I saw you online. I saw different things. I know what you guys do and I liked different things.” Even before I even spoke to her, she knew about us because we gave good content and so giving good content allows you to build rapport. It allows you to build trust. And then it also allows you to keep in touch with your regular customers.  Often these are the people that watch your lives. They’re the people that watch or look at your posts because they’ve actually been one of your customers.

 

great things to do with your content

 

One of the great things to do, especially with content is to take pictures of their jobs and then actually tag them. If you’re friends with them and if it’s business, that’s great. If you do business to business, it’s awesome because you can tag that company into your post. Then everybody that or might be a friend or if it is for a friend, it’s not for a company, but if you can tag a person into a post, it means all their friends will see it. So if you were a painter and you tagged the person who you actually painted for and they make a comment, it means all their friends will see it. And again, good content. That’s what it’s all about.
