Today, in Mikes’ Marketing Minutes we’re going to talk about which social media platform is best for you. Join me now.

Hey everybody! Mike here from M Business and Tradie Directory Australia. Today, I want to talk to you about which social media platform is best for you? But before I discuss that, there are a few questions that you need to ask yourself.

The first question I really think is: What do you want social media to do? Are you wanting it to build brand awareness or for you to make sales? Maybe you are hoping it can help with your search engine optimization?   What is it that your social media presence actually has? What is it for? So really today, I want to talk about all the different types of social media platforms and which one is best based on who your customer is?   So who is your typical customer? How old are they? Are they male and female? What is their income and education level? What are they interested in and outside of your products and services. These are the questions that you should be asking yourself. So out of those main social media platforms, you know we have Facebook.   What is the normal age for these social media users?

  • Facebook user on an average, it’s around you know 30s 40s 50s and on.
  • Instagram you’re looking at 20s 30s and it is also getting older and older as we go along
  • Snapchat again younger are people who are in their 30s and 40s.
  •

Another thing that you want to really look at when you are looking at social media is what do you want it to do?   LinkedIn is really good for people with ages 35 and above, as well as, business to business.   But what are the things that you want to put on there? We are talking about articles and updates. It’s about what you’re doing and how you can provide pretty much service. It’s also for brand awareness.   But I love all of them! I think all of them are really good because what they do is if you’re posting from your website and you’re sharing across your social media platforms, each one will help you with your search engine optimization. It’ll help you with your placement on Google.   Google gives you that tick if you’re linking back, especially a blog or an article or something that you’ve got on your actual website.   Why is it important to know who your ideal client is?   Knowing who your ideal client gives you the leverage who to attract and what need to do on these platforms.

    YouTube

Youtube is great for the “how-to’s.” It’s perfect for how to do this and how to do that. There are so many people that now just go to youtube to find out little things like DIY stuff or you know hacks on how to sort of login to do things or how to do different areas. So have a look at the why.

But think about it. Are you just going for one type are you on the wrong type?
